In this post, we’ll cover the MuxLab range of extender kits, MuxLab HDMI over IP and audio baluns, HDMI Audio Extraction as well as MuxLab UHD-4k switches, which are all perfect for setting up commercial and residential A/V systems!

MuxLab Extender Kits

HDBaseT is the new revolutionary standard that these devices use to communicate. No longer do you need multiple cables running across the room. One Cat5e or Cat6 cable can transmit audio/video signals as well Ethernet data – a game changer for those looking for easy installation!

MuxLab HDMI 4-Play Extender Kit

The Muxlab 500456 HDMI 4-Play Extender Kit, UHD-4K is perfect for those who want to extend their signal without any loss of quality. This kit comes with a transmitter and a receiver, and an IR emitter and sensor. You’ll be able reach full 1080p at 330 feet (100 meters) using just one Cat5e/6 cable – no need for extra cords or expensive extension kits anymore!

MuxLab HDMI Wall-Plate Extender Kit

MuxLab’s HDMI Wall-Plate Extender Kit is a two unit (transmitter and receiver) set that can be mounted in any standard 1 gang electrical box. The transmitter and receiver are connected through one single Cat5e/6 cable which can extend the signal up to 131 feet for 4K-UHD.

  • Up to 230 ft (70m) via Cat5e cable
  • Supports Bidirectional IR
  • Compatible with 500451
  • May be powered from the front or rear

MuxLab HDMI to HDMI with Audio Extraction

The Muxlab HDMI to HDMI with Audio Extraction, 4K/60 features one HDMI input and one HDMI output, and enables one HDMI source to be distributed to one HDMI display. A switch on the front of the device enables users to select one of three operating modes:

  • TV Mode: extracts audio from a TV’s HDMI output
  • Bitstream Mode: supports Dolby and DTS and up to 5.1 channels of compressed audio
  • LPCM 2CH Mode: supports 2 channels of L(linear) PCM audio

Video signals can pass through the HDMI output, and the device will extract an audio signal even without a connected display. Supports 4K-UHD video signals!

  • HDMI supports 4K video at 60Hz, 8-bit color depth
  • HDMI supports LPCM 7.1CH, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS, DTS-HD-Master Audio, and DTS:X
  • Extracts LPCM, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus*, DTS, and Dolby Atmos** digital audio via S/PDIF TosLink
  • Extracts 2CH analog audio via 3.5mm jack * For compressed Dolby Digital Plus signals only (in TV mode) ** For Atmos over compressed Dolby Digital Plus only (in TV mode)

MuxLab Audio Baluns

Audio baluns are tiny transformers that convert an A/V signal from balanced to unbalanced or vice-versa. They come in extremely handy when trying to minimize interference, increase efficiency and lower installation costs.

The MuxLab MonoPro™ XLR 500025 (male connector, XLR3 plug) and MuxLab MonoPro™ XLR 500026 (female connector, XLR3 socket) baluns allow a digital XLR audio/AES analog channel to be extended via a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable.  Includes locking XLR3 connectors, and a heavy-duty cable strain relief excellent for demanding live staging and rental environments.

  • Line level audio up to distances of 5,000ft / 1.5km via single Cat5e/6
  • Digital audio up to distances of 1,400ft / 426m via single Cat5e/6
  • Impedance: output 600 ohm / input 600 – 20k ohm (analog audio); 110 ohm (digital audio)
  • Sample rate: up to 96kHz
  • Cat5e/6 cable terminates inside the balun
  • Locking metal XLR3 male / female connectors with cable strain relief
  • Optional terminal for ground / shield
  • Dimensions: 1.875″ x 1″ diameter (47mm x 25mm diameter) plus 5″ (127mm) XLR3 lead

MuxLab HDMI Over IP

The MuxLab HDMI over IP PoE Extender allows the connection of HDMI equipment to create a Video Wall as per user specifications, which can support hundreds of screens, supported by one receiver for each display, and proper network bandwidth.

The transmitter and MuxLab HDMI over IP PoE Receiver unit are excellent to use for control room applications, entertainment displays, medical imagery, digital signage and for retail and hospitality setups.

  • Supports up to 1080p resolutions
  • Visually lossless video (1 frame latency)
  • Supports point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint applications
  • Transmission up to 330ft (100m) over Cat5e/6
  • Transmission up to 390ft (120m) between one (1) TX and one (1) RX when no LAN switch is used in a point-to-point scenario
  • Supports RS232 and IR transmission for remote control
  • PoE powered
  • Control via any web device (mobile, tablet) with use of model 500811 (Pro Digital Network Controller)

UHD-4K MuxLab HDMI Matrix Switches

HDMI Matrix Switches by MuxLab, available in 4×2, 4×4, and 8×8 are remote-controlled A/V switches that can connect up to eight sources with two, four or eight displays. The user can access whichever source they want by simply selecting it through the included IR remote control. These handy pieces of hardware also support 4K video resolution as well as 3D formats and 1080p Full HD, including independent EDID control.

MuxLab’s Matrix Switches are the perfect solution for anyone who wants to switch between multiple devices quickly and easily, including Blu-ray players, streaming media players or home theater PCs with ease. In addition, this unit can be controlled wirelessly via IR remote control by using the selection buttons on the front panel of the switcher.  The kit includes all of the equipment necessary: A 12VDC power supply; removable rack mount ears, and an IR emitter and sensor.
